Don't you just love the mountains!?

We were up on our property this past weekend in Heber-Overgaard, Arizona.  Man it was beautiful, even though we did have some bouts of wind - 40-50 mph at times.  Here's a picture of the temperature on Saturday.  This thermometer is on one of the trees on our property. This is one of the reasons we love to go up to the mountains during the summer. While it hit 100 degrees in Phoenix, we were enjoying a cool 68 degrees.

Schnepf Farms - Peaches, breakfast, sunflowers, and critters

After we finally decided that we had enough peaches, we then headed over to the breakfast line. I was sniveling and they gave in. Little did we know that the pancakes were as big as the paper plate they were on. You had your choice between 2 pancakes and 2 sausage or 1 pancake and 1 sausage. We all bought the 1 pancake and 1 sausage, and we really could have just bought 2 plates of 1 pancake and 1 sausage for all 4 of us.  These pancakes, as you can see from the pictures below were huge, and then they would ladle on some freah peaches and top it off with whipped cream.

Peach Festival - Schnepf Farms

I couldn't figure out why we had to leave so early in the morning to go to this festivel, but once there I realized that this place gets crazy. This was my first time I had been to this festival, and I can't remember ever hearing about this place either.

When we got to Schnepfs Farms, at around 8 am which was later than we wanted to, we went straight to the groves to pick the peaches. They take you out to the groves on a haywagon, which is a good thing since it's a pretty far walk otherwise. I'm glad that some of us had been there before and knew what to do first because by the time we got back from picking, there was a massive line to get on the haywagon to go out to the tree groves.

Here are some pictures of the four of us, Dad, Tamie, Nancy and Debbie, picking peaches from the trees and a picture of how many peaches we brought home. Mom didn't go with us, and it was probably a good idea, since she would not have been able to manuever around with her electric wheel chair very good.  But I think she would have really enjoyed herself even if she hadn't been able to pick the peaches.

Let me share a photo of my nieces and nephews

I'm so glad they all get along.  Let me introduce you... Daniel, Tiffany, Geraldine and Karl. Daniel and Tiffany are married, Geraldine is Daniel's sister, and Karl is Tiffany's brother.  They look so innocent don't they?

My mother found this picture of my grandmother...

You know, I've always had my suspicions. How she was able to keep such a clean house and do crafts up till her 90's, makes you wonder, eh? Truth be told, she is dressed up for a Halloween parade held in Belle Plaine, KS.

Still waiting for spring buds to appear

This is a picture of one of the trees we planted two years ago on our property in Heber/Overgaard. My dad got this and four others for us. This one, another one like it and my lilac bush are the only ones that survived the harsh winters. If you look really close, you can also see Coco checking out the tree as well.

Back up in Heber/Overgaard.

We brought our trailer back up to our property this past weekend. It was so nice and cool up there while it was beginning to get hot here in Phoenix. I took a couple of pictures just to remind me of why I like going up there.
